Rainbow Kitchen needs back-to-school backpacks & school supplies!

You can help low-income kids get the newschool year off to a great start!

Every year, Rainbow Kitchen provides donated back-to-school backpacks loaded with school supplies for the low-income children served by our programs. We've just learned that a generous regular supplier is unable to donate this year, so we need your help now!

Please consider holding a “backpack & school supplies drive” at work, your place of worship, your professional & social groups, or in your neighborhood, to help low-income kids get the school year off to a great start. We need new, sturdy backpacks, and school supplies of all kinds, for children of all ages, little kids to teenagers.

Please drop off your donations ASAP, BUT NO LATER THAN FRIDAY AUGUST 17th at Rainbow Kitchen, 135 East 9th Avenue, Homestead 15120, Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. If you need to drop off earlier than 9 a.m., call 412-464-1892 to make arrangements. Thank you!

Survey - Sustainable Businesses in Homestead

We want to know your opinion about sustainability and about developing a business incubator in Homestead. Knowing your perception helps the Borough identify the best ideas to support the community.

An incubator (similar to a baby’s incubator), is a facility created to support business during their early months. It commonly provides affordable space to work, shared offices and services, business training, and marketing support.

Sustainability or sustainable development is defined as the development that meets the needs of the present, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

This survey is completely anonymous; it will take about 5 minutes and is made with research purposes only.

By law, Allied Waste, the garbage collector for Homestead Borough, can no longer take televisions, laptops, computers, printers or other electronic computer and/or audio-visual items as part of the Pennsylvania Covered Device Recycling Act. It is against the law for these items to be thrown out with your trash and for us to take them. They must now be recycled and can be dropped off at a designated collection point.  Please visit our News page for more information, including available sites for recycling.
